Formlabs: 3D Printing and Design

Background: During my time at Formlabs, I had the opportunity to design and print many unique creations both for work and personal fun. This includes the 6 foot tall Mecha-Godzilla that a team of Formlabs employees spent almost a year printing. I had the great opportunity of joining this team and helped with a large portion of the assembly and finishing. 

Skills Learned/Used: Fusion 360, Onshape, Meshmixer, DEFAM, T-Splining, Generative Design, SLA and SLS Printing, Media Blasting, Manual Milling​

Part Design

While on the marketing team at Formlabs, I was given the opportunity to design some sample parts for possible materials. I learned about surface modeling and snap fit design during this. I also designed jigs and fixtures for car parts to show off the properties of the tough series resins.​

Printer Repair

While at Formlabs, I maintained a fleet of SLS printers. This means I would perform routine maintenance and have to fix the printers when there was a problem. The example above was a time I had to take apart the machine and replace the doser assembly and auger.
